Distance Learning FAQs

How does online learning work?

Online learning with ELSO is a flexible approach to studying that is designed to fit around your work schedule or personal commitments.  You can choose to study how and where you like using our innovative virtual learning classroom environment.

Do I need a computer?

You may use a laptop, IPad or even a mobile phone.  However, we recommend that it is best to use a desktop computer, laptop or IPad with good internet connection speed.

How much of my time will it take to study a course?

The number of hours required can vary from course to course.  However, they are 12 hours for a TOEFL or IELTS preparation course to 16 hours for a general English course.

What happens if my circumstances change during my studies?

If your personal situation changes during your studies, we will work with you to make the necessary adjustments to enable you to successfully complete the course you are enrolled in or postpone to a later date, thereby enabling you to approach our courses with greater flexibility.

Will I have to attend the university or sit any exams?

For security reasons and issues relating to the legitimacy of our certificates, you will have to attend the university once to provide ID and attend a free placement test.  You will then be required to sit an end-of-level exam on campus after the end of the course.

Are the certificates issued approved?

All certificates are issued through Taibah University and all courses are taught by expert instructors in their field.  All certificates highlight the Taibah University seal.

How do I apply and when can I start?

You can register through the distance learning section of our website  or call us on 0560 224 850.  We have regular course start dates, so you can start as soon as you have registered and paid for your course tuition fee.

Where would I get my username & password to enter the live class sessions?

After registering and paying the course fee, you will be issued a username and a password by email.

How would I access/enter the live online course?

To access the class, you would enter through www.elso.edu.sa then click on the Distance Learning tab.  There you will see a login button which will direct you to the online learning programme - WizIQ.  Enter your username and password and once done, select your course lesson (which shows the date and time of the lesson).

Are classes recorded so I can listen to the lesson again at a later time?

Yes.  To ensure flexibility of study, all lectures can be recorded to enable you to review lessons at a time convenient to you.

Do I need to purchase books?

No.  All materials required will be available during lessons and can also be emailed to the student if necessary.

How would the students contact the instructor of the course?

Students can contact the instructor through their email address and/or mobile number, whichever is provided by the instructor on the first lesson

How much would it cost and how often are the lessons?

  •  IELTS & TOEFL preparation courses are at a currently discounted rate of SR600 (including a free placement test, all materials and an end- of-level exam), 2 lessons a week for 3 weeks - 6 lessons in total, i.e. 12 hours of teaching in total.
